Gran Torino (2009) - Eastwood growls like its going out of fashion and echoes everyone's father whose father isn't a pussy. Great film.

Batman: Beneath The Red Hood (2010): proof positive that live-action isn't a necessity when making a great superhero movie for grown-ups.

I read the comic series Batman: Year One (if it's the same one as I'm thinking about) years ago. And have just reserved the film from Lovefilm (thanks for the recommendation).

When the cartoon adaptations are this good, it's a waste that they don't do more of them. The Killing Joke, Gotham By Gaslight, A Death in the Family and obviously The Dark Knight Returns would all make for incredible films. And considering they are currently teasing the TRAILER for the Dark Knight Rises there is definitely an appetite and market for all things Batman.

Bunraku (2010) - stylish, stylised, unexpected, impressive.

Kevin McKidd is outstanding in this film

"50 / 50" - great film but if you're a dad and (as a result) emotionally crippled, you'll end up crying. Comedy/Drama about a young guy who gets a rare form of cancer.
